[There's been a slight change in the City since the events of the first forest expedition- and no, not just in the effects left behind on the survivors. It's been subtle- the occasional chirp of a distant bird, a sudden gust of wind, and the way that the sun, moon, clouds and starlight have been following a predictable, natural pattern. Something seems a little less fake about all of it, but it's mostly unnoticeable.
At least until tonight.
It's begun to snow.
Yes, slowly the clean white specks have been collecting onto the city streets. It's chilly outside, and the world itself has become a bit washed out in color. Shades of blue and white dominate the landscape, punctuated by the glistening orange lights of street lamps and inhabited homes.]
[As the weather changes outside, the TVs across the City suddenly sputter on with life. The following broadcast is not just going through the television screens, but through communicators as well. You're greeted with the liquidy black shape of the Mayor, floating and dripping a never ending stream of black goo in a very ethereal manner.]
Good evening, Ink City. How are you all doing? Why, I haven't gotten the chance to speak with any of you since that unfortunate incident at the wall~ Ah, but that's in the past. We're moving on from that.
For those who I haven't had the pleasure of meeting yet, allow me to introduce myself. I am the Mayor.
If you haven't noticed, everyone, I'm trying to make some changes around this City. "Sprucing things up", I suppose~ This place can get dreadfully dreary, it needed an extra spark of life in it, don't you think? It's doing well for now, but it still needs some work. Expect some occasional changes. Don't be alarmed, it's all part of the creative process.
However, making this place more "homey" will require a bit of help on your part, City.
Some of you have been doing a fantastic job at that without my help, actually! Throwing parties, making friends... and enemies.. there's even a few businesses out there, I see!! Keep up the good work, all of you!
I'm sure you can all band together- and make this place something great. Something you never had, back in your old homes. It can be whatever you want it to be. Just keep giving this City life. Keep building, keep growing, keep learning~
I know you can do it.
Best of luck to you all- and keep in mind.. We'll be watching.
Ta-ta~!
[the feed cuts.
The TVs revert to static for a quick moment before coming back to life- they're airing cartoons of all kinds. Western animation, anime, animated movies, and even the occasional video game cutscene, oddly enough. But there's no name for any channels, and no commercials interrupting anything. The title cards and credits at the beginning and end of each one appear to be smeared into unrecognizable blobs.
The only things the TVs do not air are any of the canons that the city's current residents come from.
The library is also stocked with all kinds of literature, now- works of fiction, and an impressively extensive collection of comic books and graphic novels. Search all you want, and you'll find every story about every character aside from yourself.]
