[Action/Private Video] I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire...

Oct 15, 2011 16:11

[Heloise had thought things would've gotten easier for her once the Split was over, and everything was back to normal. Well, as normal as things get around here.
But of course, nothing's ever easy.

It'd be so long since she'd had an idea. Or worked on an invention. Or even used all the scientific equipment in her lab. It'd just been collecting dust while she found herself highly distracted and doing nothing productive at all.
She'd recently come to a disturbing realization. One that she knew also didn't stem from the fact Lucius had disappeared.
She'd lost her drive, her willpower, her inspiration... to create misery at all.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the only thing.
For over the past week or so, Heloise had been hearing a voice occasionally speaking to her in her head. It wasn't a voice she particularly recognized... but at the same time, it felt oddly familiar. Like she had heard it before, somewhere... and just couldn't, no matter how hard she tried, think of where.
It wasn't very frequent or loud at first, for a day or so, she thought she was just imagining things from the stress of her... unusual scientific block. It said things like "I'm so proud of you!" and "You've helped to make this City what it is!", and other seemingly bizarre praise and compliments she had no clue of the context of.
But then she started hearing the voice more often, as it began to say much more... worrisome things. Things like "But I'm afraid the time has come.", "It's so sad, but all good things must come to an end", and "I'm sorry, but your time is running out".
But maybe worst of all, it was reassuring her she'd lost her reason and purpose.
Her first suspect was the Inky Mayor and/or his sister made of Paint. After all, they'd seem like the most likely candidates to send strange messages straight into people's heads, right?
Well, turns out that supposedly wasn't the case.

She knew she was going crazy... was she?
It was certainly driving her off the edge, though. It wouldn't leave. It wasn't going away. It was only getting worse every single day.
She couldn't take it anymore.
She needed to talk to... someone.
Well, there was only one someone she knew, and could trust with something like this.

While In her stagnant lab, she picks up her communicator, sounding and looking uncharacteristically exhausted, nervous, and concerned, as she sends out a Private Video to Dr. Chipotle Jr.]

Hey, Diego, it's me, Heloise. When you get this message... get back to me as soon as you can. I wanna talk to you about something, it's... important....
