TITLE: A Long Road To Home

RATING: Swearing...quite a bit.

DESCRIPTION: Sophie and Sian have never met. Sophie decides she's had enough of everyone and her life and she leaves to start off new somewhere else.

DISCLAIMER: I own nothing.

"I only have like...wait." I mumble dipping my hand into my pocket, getting more and more aggravated by the second. Where the hell did all my money go? I pull out some scrunched up notes, catching the glare of the woman behind the desk of this shitty place, and try to straighten them out. "Twenty...no, £27."

"Sorry, darlin', read the sign." She sniffed tapping her cheap pen on the even cheaper table, waving her hand at the wall to her left. I roll my eyes and look over to it. "£35 a night, no less."

"For this fucking place?!" I shout losing my temper. "Shove it up your arse." I growl shoving my money back in my pocket and slamming the already half broken door off the wall as I march out. Great! Now where do I bloody go?

I kick the ground angrily and then sulk off down the street. Somebody must 'av robbed me. I haven't bought a think and I've lost like three hundred quid! I make my way back the way I came, thinking about just sleeping in the doorway of that bar again...Maybe not such a good idea...nowhere else to go though...God! And I'm bloody starving an' all. I pull my mobile from my pocket, switch it on and then back off quickly. 10:11pm. I drop it back into my pocket keeping it off so I don't have to hear from my mum. She can't have the coppers out looking for me cause I didn't run away or anything, I left.

Where can I go for food at this time...?

I sigh, stopping, slouch against the nearest wall and take a deep breathe. It doesn't calm me any, I really just want to bloody kill someone.

Fuck it, I had nowhere else to go.

Half an hour and about 9 wrong turns later, I finally arrived back in the street of the bar. Her bar. Sian's bar. I'd changed earlier in the toilets of a clinic I rushed embarrassed into. People musta thought I was in there getting checked out or something...A smile fell onto my lips as I imagined there being some sort of CCTV camera's in the toilets. I'd stood, got washed, changed, brushed my teeth, done me hair and make up in there. Ha. Oh well...Taking another deep breath I walked slowly over to the bar and pushed the door opened.

There was soft rock-ish music playing at the perfect volume from somewhere in the corner and a good few people sitting around on the couches chatting away happily. More people lined the bar-stools, some talking, others sitting minding their own business. I glanced around, a grin creeping onto my lips when I saw no old men.

"We'll look who I saw later." A familiar voice whispers behind me. I turn quickly to see her but she isn't there. I shift back on my heels and see her standing in front on me grinning. "Couldn't keep away?"

"Something like that." I smile at her then gaze down. She was wearing a very tight little blue dress that I tried not to stare at for too long and her hair fell in long blond waves past her shoulders.

"So, ya wanting another drink then or...." She smiles then turns and walks towards the bar. A few seconds after she disappears she pops up behind it holding something out in her hand to me. I walk over to her curiously. Ah, my money! Thank God!

"Thought I'd been robbed!" I sigh with relief taking the money from her hand, smiling gratefully and thanking her.

"You were." She winks and then goes to a guy sitting at the bar wanting a drink, leaving me staring after her. She didn't....

I move and sit at a bar stool near the corner of the bar and watch as she talks with the guy, flashing him a toothy grin and handing him another drink. Sian only chats with him for a few minutes, before gliding down to me.

"So?" She asks tapping the bar with her fingers, raising her eyebrows at me. "Your usual?" She teases.

"Just an orange juice, please." I ask politely really not in the mood to touch a drop of alcohol. Bet she's wondering what I'm doing here if I'm not gonna buy her booze...Waiting for her to close so I can sleep on her doorstep, maybe? Like I'd tell her that though.

Sian heads off, returning a few seconds later with my orange juice, telling my she'll charge it to my tab then giving me a cheeky wink. I sip at my drink, watching her talk and laugh with her customers. It's clear that they all really like her and enjoy her company.

An hour after my first orange juice, I order my 6th. Only a few customers remain in the bar - she closes at 11 on Monday nights but she let's a few stay awhile longer, including me.

"So..." She sighs walking back to me. "You looking for a job or something?"

"Erm...I don't know...you offering?" I drink some orange juice from my glass, then set it back down.

"If you're lookin' I am." She laughs then turns shouting her goodbye to a very drunk young guy who stumbles out the door.

"Girlfriend just dumped him." She informs me when I look at her questioningly.

"All clued up on the customers?" I tease her taking another drink.

"Don't change the subject." Sian narrows her eyes at me playfully before adding, "And yes, all of them but you."

"I've never worked in a bar before...don't think I'd be any good..." I clench my teeth together opening my mouth and hissing in a sharp breath.

"I can help ya'." She offers with a shrug,

"You want me to work for you?" I ask making sure I was understanding properly. Was she really offering me a job? Was it even legal for me to serve other people alcohol? Well...she did think I was 19...

"You don't have to, babe! I'm not gonna force ya.." Sian grinned saying bye to a couple of girls who head out.

"No, I just...Okay, yeah." I shrug and she starts giggling.

"Right, okay, start tomorrow?" She wiggles her eyebrows.

"You're the boss!" I laugh, finishing my orange juice and handing her the glass.

"That I am." She winks putting the glass under the bar and saying goodbye to a final guy who actually walks into the door on the way out. I burst out laughing when he does but he doesn't even notice.

"So...I suppose you can come in about...1-ish, since I've made you stay out so late, yeah?"

"Yeah, sure, thank you by the way." I smile gratefully.

"Don't worry about it...you just better be good!" She pauses to think for a moment then speaks hesitantly. "You know...do ya...wanta kip here tonight...since I mean, yer gonna be working here tomorrow. Don't worry about it if you don't wanna I was just thinkin' since...." She trails off waiting for me to say something.

Just as I'm about to answer the door bursts open and a tall, black haired guy marches in.

"Sian, what is that Gary doing hanging about outside?" He demands angrily glancing back over his shoulder at the door. He's quite fit....well for a lad anyway.

"Adam!" Sian hisses her eyes wide warning him.

"I've told him to bloody keep away from you!" He hisses storming behind the bar, pouring himself a glass of whiskey.

"Leave it, Adam." Sian sighs.

They stand staring at each other and I put the situation together. Oh...her boyfriend. They must own this place together if he's jumping behind the bar like that.

"I'll fucking kill him!" He knocks the whiskey back shaking his head. Oh, he's the jealous, aggressive type...

"Just go up to bed, Adam." Sian orders snatching the glass from his hand. "I'll be up in a bit." She adds quietly putting the glass underneath the bar.

He shakes his head then marches up the stairs. What a bloody dick! She's far too good for him...

"Sorry 'bout him...he's..." Sian tries to explain but I cut her off.

"It's okay." I smile politely. "I'm gonna head off now though, I'll be here tomorrow."

"Wait, I though...." Sian sighs and stops.

"Thanks for the job." I pull my bag onto my shoulder and head for the door.

"Yeah." She whispers quietly. "Bye, Sophie." Is the last thing I hear her say before the cold, winter air hits me.

Shaking my head, I watch as the air around me turns white when I sigh deeply. Straight, older, rich girl...with a boyfriend...It just got worse. I start off down the street again, hoping I can charm my way back into the B&B I'd marched out of a few hours earlier since I could afford it now. With each step I take, I wish more and more that I'd taken Sian up on her offer. I still didn't regret leaving home...well it was never really my home anyway...I'm still looking for that.

thanks for reading :)
