Yes, it's raining. Yes, there is thunder and there is lightning.

Yes, thunderstorms sometimes produce tornadoes.

But good grief, folks -- how about shutting your yaps, putting the show back on (with a crawl at the bottom, if need be) and not trying to alarm people into staying tuned?

I don't *need* to see the Live Doppler for the 18th time in as many minutes. I don't *need* to hear a remote report from this or that reportron breathlessly informing me that a display sign has blown down outside the Wal-Mart 60 miles away. I don't *need* to be given block-by-block progress of the flipping squall line.

That's TV for you, though. "Be scared! Bad things might happen! Don't touch that remote!"

If there's a tornado, cut in and let me know. If not ... take a deep, cleansing breath and return me to my regularly scheduled programming, please.
