hereCANON POINT: After stepping through the Door to Light with Sora.
RP HISTORY: Previously in
cityofsolace , where Riku managed to reunite with Sora along with Kairi, Namine, and Xion. He also interacted with others from his canon such as Roxas, Axel, and Zexion.
Most of his days leading up to the year he spent in the city were relatively peaceful. Because their original powers/abilities were extremely dampened upon arrival to the city, Riku and his friends were not as concerned about the Nobodies and vice-versa; most of the time, both parties remained civil and actually got to know one another a little better. It was a rather big change for Riku; most of his time was spent fighting the Nobodies, and now that he had a chance to actually talk and get to know them; needless to say, his view on them changed. Especially when he became aware of his feelings for Roxas.
Though Riku was rather wary of being stuck in some foreign world rather than Destiny Islands, the fact that his friends were with him put him to ease and slowly, his urge to leave was not as prominent as his urge to keep his friends safe during their time in Solace. This is due to the fact that Solace underwent various changes; from inflicting "curses" on foreigners like Riku, to getting invaded by raiders, and becoming a territory being fought over by a neighboring country, Riku and his friends were caught in the middle of all the confusion. Himself, along with Sora and Namine, have been captured by invaders more than once, which put those they were close to in a fit of worry. Despite this, Riku was usually able to make it out in the end, and was even able to foster a relationship with Roxas.
Though they were foreigners to the city, Riku did his best to fight for Solace and keep his friends safe. Ultimately, Solace was taken over and things vaguely settled back into a norm. The last thing Riku remembers before he finds himself here, is the beginnings of his relationship with Roxas and wondering if Sora is safe.
ABILITIES/PHYSICAL ABNORMALITIES: Extensive list can be found
here.
It is known that Riku is pretty strong. Ever since they were kids, Riku was known for his strength and agility. This is proven when Tidus tells Sora that even triple-teaming up against him with Wakka and Selphie, they were still defeated by him. Clearly, he is not only skilled with his keyblade, but in hand to hand combat as well, which is also demonstrated in 358/2 Days when he knocks down a charging Xion with one punch.
As for physical abnormalities, Riku doesn't really have any unless you count his rather long-ish, shocking silver hair and pale, aqua eyes (hi kadaj/Sephiroth). The white band around his left wrist is actually an injury dealt by Roxas during their fight in 358/2 Days. It appears that Riku can use that wrist, however its movements seem to be stiffer than his right one.
PERSONALITY: Riku is pretty much the opposite of Sora; where Sora is cheerful and optimistic, Riku leans more towards blunt and practical. That being said, Riku isn't really emo or anything - he just has a more realistic way of interpreting things. Though Riku does have his reasons for being more aloof and quieter than he used to be back when he was 15, where he was a lot more cocky and a lot more competitive. However, through his journeys in the games, he has multiple realizations and through these realizations, he comes to terms with the fact that he had let his heart become weak by giving in to the darkness. Thus, if he can't get rid of the darkness in his heart, he decides to use it without turning from the light like before. He matured immensely from these realizations, and after leaving the past behind him when he left Castle Oblivion, he also left behind a lot of his former traits. They're substituted for an older demeanor that almost seems jaded and much too old for a sixteen year old boy. But Riku has seen and learned way more than any boy his age could, has experienced dangers and life-altering situations that probably no one his age could understand, and in the end, it makes sense. It's because of what he's experienced that make him who he is and he realizes that it's not just about himself or independence anymore- it's about protecting what is precious; something that he had valued very much before he lost his way.
However, later in the game, we still see glimpses of Riku's "younger" personality through his sense of humor. While warning the Emperor in the Land of Dragons about the Nobodies and Heartless, he reassures them saying that three "wise guys" (Sora, Donald, and Goofy) will be there soon to defend the palace. He still teases Sora, though not as frequently, calling him a sap and telling him to get a hold of himself, and even cracks a joke about Donald and Goofy's level of intelligence. The competitive edge isn't there anymore, and there's a difference between the way Riku used to tease him then compared to now.
Though Riku has grown up a lot, he still expresses much remorse and guilt for the things he'd done in the past. He admits to Sora that he didn't want to be found when Sora went to search for him, saying that he didn't want anyone to see him in his state. He almost refuses to go back home with Sora and Kairi, not knowing how to face everyone after everything that had happened. Yet this really proves how much Riku has matured since the beginning of Kingdom Hearts and despite the fact that he focuses much on repentance, it's amazing to see (and experience indirectly) the things that has happened to him and knowing that he survived it all. Riku changes the most out of everyone in the game, and lot of his personality is made up of multiple layers.
Generally, Riku is honestly... an honestly good guy. He truly cares deeply for his friends and is extremely loyal to them. He won't ever betray you unless it's honestly for your own good and though you might get really pissed off at him then, when you finally figure it out, you'll probably be feeling the opposite. Depending on the situation, he can be blunt, sarcastic, or really serious when giving advice and usually, it's good advice that he's gained through his experiences. Riku is still a teenager (even though he seems a lot more mature than one), however, and mostly covers up his teenage instincts/urges with silences and deep thinking. He's not so much a loner as he just doesn't want to be a burden to his friends or anyone, even though his friends are just as loyal to him as he is.
PLANS: Well, now Riku finally has a chance to have somewhat of a normal life (yay, schooling!) that he had unfortunately missed out... pretty much his entire life, possibly. In this environment, I feel Riku would be able to develop more personality wise and experience new things by interacting with others besides his friends. He's still young, after all, and though he has been through a lot previously, he still has much to learn.
