i will not leave.

now, more than ever, i need to be here. i was never promised a life free of strife and absent of dissenting opinion. the only thing i'm promised is that i'm gonna die. so with everything else, i've got to deal.

i will stay because the precedent has been set. my ancestors came here to america against their will and were enslaved and considered sub-human. even after all of that, they didn't leave. they stayed here to fight for their place in this society. now while they fought so that i would have the freedom to choose where i wanted to live, they did not fight so that i could turn tail because i felt the fight was no longer worth the effort. they fought to make it easier for me, not absent of any hardship whatsover. life ain't like that, no matter what environment you grew up in.

i will stay because the next four years will only become more difficult for those folks who are suffering from the effects of socio-economic inequality. i need to be here to do what i can to make sure those effects are as minimal as possible.

i will stay because we have an administration that not only knows little about the struggles within the black community, they could give a fuck about 'em. cheney was asked during the vp debate if he knew african-american women make up the largest number of new aids cases. he said he didn't. he then said "while that's an unfortunate circumstance, we have to focus our efforts on the war against terrorism".

i will stay because cheney and the rest of that fucking administration are blind to the fucking terrorism taking place right here on american soil. or maybe they're not blind, just willing to ignore it. either way, i will not leave.

i will stay because if i leave, they win.
