And what a weekend it was... high, lows, exhaustion, italian... I got it all!
Trinty Ball- UNBELIEVABLY AMAZING. Warrents the caps lock and all. Luas out to halls (v strange looks on the way) with Cat n Emma, where we met Scully and Rory (and provided Scully with his sexy belly belt!), general socialising, twirling (cheers graham!) and so forth, many were the photos, much was the alcohol consumed.
Stopped by the Wardens on our way back, who told us we couldn't leave with bottles. Fine by us, except Scully decided it was absolutely necessary to finish his bottle of Martini there and then, however hard the wardens tried to persuade him that he could, in fact, leave it in the apartment. Finally get out luas wards, to find Rory has his beer in hand. Sneaky chap had gone round to the other gate... Having made friends with Mary, the Luas inspector, on we hopped and off to the ball!! Cinderella had a pumpkin, we had the speediest tram in Dublin.
The campus looked amazing when we finally got there. We had to make a pistop in burger king first, where some random dunk boys in tuxes bet each other we were going to the TB. Hardly the world's most unlikely bet there... The bands were brilliant anyway- saw Noise Control, Delorentos, Director, Aslan, Ash, CSS, The Blizzards, and the random DJs. Wowness. Graham pulled a King Lear, James had a.. moment, with my pashmina, we all enjoyed the tree. Wound up in Burger King, frozen at five in the morning, before stumbling off to the Dart. Pearse St was hilarious- the platform was just full of exhausted hung-over students, huddling on benches.
Dart arrives, carriage fills with said exhausted students, I realise the windows are open and stagger around closing them all in the remenants of my finery... So annoyed when I finally got through to my dad, and he tells me he's gone golfing and I have to walk the half hour from the station. Pleasent prospect.
But luckily, a bus arrived and I only had to walk the five mins from the bus stop, gettin filthy looks from dog walkers as I went.
Finally get to bed at 9, wake up round half two, manage to drag myself out of bed at about half 3. Am marginally more awake when the Eurovision starts- and here comes the heartache. England didn't win! And nor did France, which I would have settled for instead. :(
I guess you can't have it all. So, after sobbing myself to sleep, I spent today studying, And got a call from the lady I'm working for this summer. Hilarity ensues. She started of speaking english, but couldn't understand me at all. The relief in her voice when I said "in italiano?" But then she started talkin at top speed and I think I made out the words "aeroporto" and "abruzzo". Fun times. But! havin looked it up on the ol interweb, I found out its a big italian holiday place with "vibrant nightlife, a great social scene and wonderful shopping". Score-aileoliacht! The summer's lookin good...
