Getting my stuff together II

So, last night I put new strings on my guitar and did a series of finger exercises an unknown jazz guitar player taught me about twenty years ago. They take about ten or fifteen minutes to do and build strength and dexterity. If you haven't done them for a while they also hurt. I will be doing them again tonight and then picking out a few songs to work on. I bought an entry level digital mixer/recorder last year, but other than a brief burst when I first got it I haven't done much with it. By the end of this month I hope to have at least one or two demo-ish kind of things. I'll be playing guitar and percusion and singing. I may throw a few odd other music devices in as well. I might even let siel lay down some bass track and bang a few drums.

We shall see.

Otherlywise, I have a book by Rabbi David A. Cooper called Ecstatic Kabbalah. He teaches a method based on the work of Abraham Abulafia. It uses chanting and intonation of Hebrew sounds and names of God.  I've not read it all the way through yet.  It is meant to be done in small doses along with examples on a CD.  The first one just uses Hebrew vowels sounds, eh ee ah oh uh, in conjuction with a simple middle piller type visualization.  Simple but effective.  Considering I have the rest of this life and who knows however many more, I'm in no rush.  I might just do this first one daily for a week or two before I even read the second chapter.

We shall see.
