Silliness, but fun: Pata Pata

Aug 12, 2010 22:03

The words go something like this:

Very slim authority says "asat wuguga sat jubenga" means "Slap a leg" and "pata pata" means "touch touch" or something.

Pata Pata is a dance we do down Johannesburg way,
And everybody starts to move when Pata Pata starts to play!

The baseline:
Mama Africa: Miriam Makeba

Here she is live:

I don't know who Daúde, but she/they get(s) it.

This one is surprisingly triumphant:

This one is very special to me because I believe Thandiswa Mazwai, singing lead on this, is the one in whom the spirit of Mama Africa currently resides.

This one is almost stupid.

This one is just fun

Not entirely successful, I think.

I better stop here before I get tiresome.

Every Friday and Saturday night it's Pata Pata time.
The dance keeps going all night long.
Till the morning sun begins to shine...

fun, thandiswa mazwai, youtube, music, pata pata, miriam makeba
