I won't lie and say it will be easy. It will be a bitch. We're here for you, if you need support. Plus you will feel a lot healthier when you've kicked the habit.

My mother-in-law quit cold turkey, though it was unfortunately too late for her health. She said the toughest thing about it was treating tobacco as both an addiction and a habit. You know, if you're used to having something in your mouth when you read, you need to find a way to channel that (she used gum, sorry you perverts). If you need a stimulant after you eat a meal, maybe a little caffeine will help.

No matter what you do, be good to yourself. *hugs*

I quit almost exactly one year ago. I quit cold turkey. It was awful. Sometimes it's still awful. But I made an oath to my HGA and somehow I just can't go back on it. Ever.

I quit cold turkey over 15 and a half years ago and I've never missed it one bit. Get past that first three days and you'll be fine, and never want to go back.

It is a hard thing to do! In 1990 I went cold turkey on December 3rd I was a three pack + a day smoker (something I got in to while driving a taxi) I never went back. What I found helpful was to set a date to do it than I made a rule with my self that at that time I could not hold one in my hand or hold a pack (that way I couldn’t ask someone else to give me one) I found the ritual of tapping the box on the top of my hand or the feeling of how It felt to hold the cigarette was as much a part of the whole thing as the act of internalizing the fire energy.( like eating anger) The other thing that really helped was that I was kind to my self for the first 6 months on the third of every month I would give my self a little gift then it went from every month to the 3 of December once a yaer I would buy my self a lovely piece of Jewelry to reward my self( with the money I saved I could afford to) I did that for about 11 years till money got to tight ( ... )

You know, you're a bastard. You should have told us that you weren't feeling well. Now I'm all upset with you. :(

Next time you visit, you're eating good-for-you food, even if I have to have siel tie you up so I can shove it all down your throat with a really REALLY big spoon.

But seriously, you need to tell us these things in a more timely fashion. You're family.
