Band of Brothers: Currahee - Reactions and Icons (33)

Sep 28, 2011 00:03

So this is just my little thoughts on my recent viewing of the first episode of Band of Brothers. I must say, I am delighted to see this picture. It’s great that I can play it on my VLC player on my Mac all by myself, interrupting the program with the constant camera click of my screencapping. I have 525 MB of caps already!

Yes, I'm glad I got to warn you about the language. I must tell you, then, to never watch Flags. And I can't be sure how vocally clean Band of Brothers will be in the future, as they only get into combat in the next episode, but this one wasn't too bad, imo, for modern war films. I'm glad there are some people who are really bothered by language, even h and d. You're an uncommon breed. :)

Yes, the story is fascinating, though one my mother probably would get bored with, lol! It doesn't have a central plot (obviously). It really helps that I've read the book to see what's going on. And thanks for the icon complements. You know what, these are one of the first I've really been proud of. I finally think they have that richness which I saw in some of a1cmustangpilot's icons. And I feel they could stand on their own, without text tricks. Yipee! :)

You're welcome for the warning! It didn't seem to conclude too anti-war-like, but anyway. I could understand an unhistorical rendering, though. Oh, the Winds of War? Sounds great already! Which war is is on?

No curse words on Combat? Oh, that's so so so great! Now I know I have to see it. Yes, old TV. :)

LOL, well, I'm glad to designate you as something different. :D Hm, yes, I've noticed you like it, XD I mainly opted for text a lot to make the icon something more than just a snapshot of the show, lol! And to make it like I used my Photosop for something. But with these, I adjusted the Vibrancy and Exposure, so I feel I -did- do something with them. :)

Off topic, but I know you have a paid account with a lot of userpics. What must the dropdown icon selector look like??

Wow, definitely an interesting show. Tell me what you think of it when you get it. :)

Ah, yes, the amount of sex on TV today is ridiculous. It's like you have to have it. And only 1 romance ep? I'm not against romance, but today's almost always equals sex. And we know that's so not the case. Oh, I love those heart-breaking moments. :) I can't wait to see it and Kirby and everyone. :D

Oh, good point. No wonder you were uploading a lot. ;) I guess I should've taken advantage of it, too. Oh well. LOL, just random! That's cute.

Now I'm just testing out how to make italics... It's with HTML tags, right? slant test

Oh, what a tease! I can see what you mean about Sarge's character and heart-clutching moments. And you're right; the smaller things meant so much more in older TV than they do now. I think people are desensitized from death by the likes of modern horrors and shoot-em-up thrillers. I saw that my library system has Combat, so we'll get to see some of it soon. ^^ And a Combat spinoff? Shows how good Combat was!

Mm, yes, old TV romances were just plain sweet and had so much more meaning than today's love fests. *shakes head and sighs*

I'll try out your suggestion next time I post. Hopefully it works! The italics sure have. :)

Ah, fascinating! It's always funny when the same actor moves to a very similar show and plays almost the same guy, even worse when the same character gets played be different actors in the same series. Thanks for the pic. I'll have to see if my library has it!

Oh, I see. Yes, if there's a market, that company would eventually put it out. I'm glad there is a place for old shows to be released, though, and they're not lost to antiquity. :)

And you asked something about Life is Beautiful. No, I haven't seen it. I could imagine a comedy set in such horrors can work, if mixed with drama. After all, real life is a combination of both.
