[After the D.A. meeting, Hermione had once more been droned. It seemed a habit lately, really, but it was only this morning she returned to her normal self and after some investigating... Well, there were tears abroad, needless to say. Immediately returning home, she didn't think to go to work and it was only when she calmed herself slightly she ( Read more... )

[Sitting down next to her.]

Glad to see you're back.

[Hermione wasn't her usual attentive self, but when Tiffany spoke up she glanced a look. Placing her wand down, she frowned, glancing away.]

[A large part of her wanted to say she didn't want to be back-- hated it, but everyone felt that way, she knew. Still. She took a shaky breath.]

...Thank you. [Hardly audible she shook her head.] Although, I wonder if people being here is hardly anything to be glad about, anymore.

Oh it's never been something to be glad about people being here if you think about it. But there's strength in numbers and all that.

Besides, having conversations with drones is frightfully dull. Though I do know where all the cookbooks in the library are located now.

[Tiffany checks up on all the drones of people she knew at least once a week.]

Except the numbers are always changing. Before we can even try for strength they take those away.

[She's frowning, but tries to offer a quirk of a smile.] I could have told you before, you realize.

If you look at it that way. But two will always be a stronger number then one. So as long as we have at least one other person, then there's a strength in that.

Of course. But then I'd have missed out on our fascinating conversation about the sort of vegetables you should serve with chicken. I'm not sure if you remember but you said something about potatoes.

Well, yes, but it's difficult to draw strength from a person we hardly know.

[Hermione smiled faintly.] Mum taught me a bit about cooking, but I've never been a very good one. If I said something like that, I hardly remember it... Honestly, I fear I'd feel rather insulted if I met that version of me.

Most things are difficult. That's what makes life a challenge and a headache.

Considering the way they make the drones behave, I wouldn't be surprised. Personally I'd probably end up locking my drone in a closet if I met her. Apparently I'm fond of pink a great deal more then anyone should be as a drone.

It'd still be nice to be given a break--- just once. But that's a rather stupid thing to wish for, really.

At least the colour pink isn't the worst of it normally. I'd think the completely altered personalities would be far more troublesome. Shudder to see the day.

[She shrugs.]

I'd say more, naive then stupid. But then again, wishing in general doesn't really do much unless you actually do something about it.

I'm just surprised I haven't woken up undroned to find Sealand's broken into the house and drew on my face with marker. Did you know everyone in England's family seems to break into his house randomly? I think it's a family thing. Or maybe just a nation thing...I know France did that when he was first here.

...Perhaps that wasn't the best way to say it.

[Managing another small half-hearted smile, Hermione shook her head.] As those of us from England don't often do things like that, I'm going to have to assume it really is merely a nation thing to do.

Perhaps.

Most likely. Which really wouldn't surprise me at all. That reminds me, I need to start bringing scone crumbs over to France's house. I want to convince him that some of England's scones have migrated over there.

[Despite herself, Hermione furrowed a brow.] Why on earth would you do something like that?

Because I'm rather bored and because I enjoy teasing France. He was my little brother for a while here before he jumped a few hundred years.

[She's still furrowing her brows. Nope. Hermione doesn't really do teasing.] There must be something more productive to do with your time.

[A raised eyebrow. She doesn't like to be told she's not being productive.]

Yes, because it takes a great deal of time to scatter crumbs in a house and then mention a few passing sentences.

And there isn't really much to do here.

[Oh, but Tiffany, Hermione is a stick in the mud who doesn't think pranking is a good use of time.]

[She's even frowning with that prefect-y look about her.] Enough time that can be used for something else, I'd think.

Be that as it may, there's still plenty to learn.
