Making up stories again, Granger?

[Pride it clicks in! And it's the real Hermione in full.]

Of course I'm not! If you weren't being so thick you'd be able to see it for yourself, Caesar.

[Hey, someone in this town needs to act like a proper Malfoy, even if he's only a fake one.]

I'm thick? You're the one claiming to be a witch.

It's the Fourth of July. Why don't you go and take a break for once? All that work you do must have finally fried something.

[You know what happens to Malfoys, right?]

I didn't claim anything. I read something that's a fact.

[Well it sounded nice, but--] Because doing absolutely nothing will get us no where. Mind you I have no reason to celebrate an American Holiday.

[Prison? Poorly named future children? Things like that?]

If those were facts, it would mean you were born in the future.

[ And a boot to the head slap across the face.]

[An uncertain pause.]

I'm well aware, but there's proof before me I can't deny.

The things you were reading off? How can you know that they're more real than our town?

We went to the same school. [Admittedly, she was a few years ahead of him, but still.] You would turn me in for skipping class all the time at the Academy, not at some Hogwarts...

Because. I have things from that place right in front of me and can do some of what's mentioned. They must be.

[She frowned.] Academy? Caesar, there's only the public schools here in Mayfield. No academy.

Really? You can actually do magic? [That can't be real, but she never struck him as much of a liar, either.] No academy? But I...

[There's an awkward pause as he struggles with that.]

No, no, you're right. Mayfield doesn't have any academies. I don't know where that idea came from.

I have my wand and I do remember some spells, so of course I can. [Well, she lies! But not often.]

[Hermione's frowning.]

Probably the same as my own. Try thinking of the academy a bit more.

It was... [This is disconcerting. He could have sworn he'd only gone to school in Mayfield.] Boring. Everyone took themselves way too seriously, but what else could you expect? Most of them were Harmonian.

[Oh, another one of those dreadful pauses.]

...no way. That can't be. At least you remember things from a place that exists on a map!

[Hermione's listening intently hands gripping towards her map.]

On a map, perhaps, but the rest of it is just as absurd. Continue, Caesar, what else is there? Who are Harmonians?

Everyone's memories are so different they can't be fake.

[Who are Harmonians...

Okay. An answer to that pops right into his head. That was unexpected.]

You know that one guy that no one ever likes because he thinks he has some right to touch everyone else's stuff? The Kingdom of Harmonia is that guy and a lot of the same can be said for its people.

[He shakes his head.]

But it's too ridiculous to be real, too. I've been in Mayfield my entire life and I remember a whole lot more of that than whatever this is.
