well i turned 22 and as it was a happy birthday i'm posting 22 things that make me happy!
1. kindred spirits. i tried to save this one for last, but how could i not put it first?? you know that email that has gone around, about how north americans are among the top 3% luckiest people in the world, because we have water, food, are literate, etc etc.? i think having kindred spirits must make me one of the top 0.00000000005% luckiest. (okay i'm not sure, but i think with six billion people on the planet and that many zeros behind the decimal, that would make me THE luckiest person YRAH!)
2. birthday cards especially ones with *poems* bwahahah. okay guys i love the card and thanks a bazillion!!!!!
3. oabpl reunions!!!
4. hot chocolate
5. traipsing in the snow
6. garbasaurus. well, its origin is kind of sad. but its existence shows that people care, and that makes me happy.
7. steve irwin (speaking of people who care). i really wish he could have lived long and made many more documentaries, and raised his children and grown old with his wife, and watched as humans learn to change their anthropocentric ways (no doubt in part of his efforts). but he didn't. but you know what? he set out to inspire people to love and care about nature, and he sure inspired me, among many, many others. i've never claimed anyone to be my hero, but i think he is mine.
8. people who not only talk about what they want to do, but DO THEM; people who actually ARE the change they wish to see in the world. they inspire me so much. and they are not famous people like steve irwin, but just regular folk like you and me, who go around trying to promote fair-trade coffee or stop child sex tourism or whatever. really very cool.

12. chilly january days. because it's supposed to be chilly in january in Canada!

17. www.thecannon.ca. this site makes me happy not only because things are getting traded and reused instead of thrown out (and not only because you can find really, really good deals), but also because people are fair and honest. it seems most people are decent, and there is some hope for us after all.
