from a strange and distant land...

so it's been 47 years since i updated and a TON has happened in that time. maybe i'll catch up and update on it all. eh, maybe not. most likely the latter.
so...at the moment i'm sitting in my brother's house in new jersey. having one heck of a blast up here!!! we drove up on monday (we being mom, dad, and myself) to see the new addition to the family for the first time!
i am proud to say that i am now an aunt! for those of you who have not yet been forced to endure stories and photos, my nephew, sean andrew coxe, was born on may 4th, 2004, in west orange, NJ, to proud parents charles and jennifer coxe. and he is the perfect baby. so far i know he likes eating, sleeping outside, and the U2 songs my brother and i sing to him. he does not like being naked, having his bib taken off, or not being held. i can't believe my brother is a dad. he's an excellent father, i just can't believe he has a kid. crazy.
other than baby stuff, i haven't done much up here...went into the city today, NYC that is, had an excellent deli lunch, shopped a bit, saw lots of warships and sailors, walked around the village, hung out at my brother's office, came home and played baseball with my brother...that was so cool. something about playing catch in a city made me think of all the baseball movies i have ever seen, all the lines about the smell of the leather and the grass, the lights, the air, the sound of the ball hitting the glove or the bat. for a moment i felt like kevin costner in field of dreams, even though it wasn't nearly the right situation, just a little bit magical i guess. ah, nothing like graduation to make everything sentimental.
tomorrow, is the big game for the inter-company baseball league. it's maxim vs. rolling stone, and apparently rolling stone is really good so my brother is nervous. he wants the whole family to come in and watch the game in central park (how cool is that?!) but sean may not be able to handle that, being 3 weeks old and all, so we'll see. we're trying to brainwash the kid early to like baseball so maybe he'll play when he grows up. if not baseball, then definitely hockey.
i hope i haven't missed too much that's going on down in the ATL. if i have, tell me about it when i get back...monday.
wrote too much, sorry. time for bed.
