So...I kinda finished Gundam ZZ. Heh. I actually liked it better than Zeta, even if Zeta probably was objectively better. But ZZ really got good after ep 21.
I finally finished ZZ too! So I thought I'd come around to catch up. :)
Either there's something in the air on Shangrila colony, or every holdover character from Zeta is suffering from PTSD. Possibly a combination of both.
I'm placing my bets on the writers thinking "Okay, we need to make sure these new guys don't look like losers, so let's make sure they're good enough to make the viewers forget all about the old cast. It would go perfectly with our new comedy approach.". But in-story, yeah, what you said. The Zeta crew was pretty beat-up by the end of their own show. And I'm guessing there was also an element of confusion when they were suddenly faced with the chaos and craziness that was the Shangri-La crew's methods, after all the "pro" battle they'd seen lately. I mean... oranges. Who wouldn't be a little stunned?
These guys seem more like a team than the Zeta gang did
Absolutely. It stood out to me too. I think it's because all of these guys can actually pilot a suit through a battle without having to be rescued every five seconds. In Zeta, Camille was a great pilot, Emma was supposed to be good (because nobody ever told her she sucked) but still had to be saved A LOT, and the others were just bad. These guys could actually work together without constantly having to rely on Judau to not die.
- Judau heading out to fight Haman, and there's another battle of speeches. Who were all the newtypes with Judau, there? Definitely Puru, Sarah, Katz and Kamille, but two others - Lalah Sune? One other?
Four Murasame, of course!
- Judau got kinda broken, and Roux was...strange.
So I wasn't the only one confused about that whole defection thing?
Fake Mineva
Best excuse they could have made to give the poor girl a chance at a normal life, I guess. I wish the Unicorn OVAs weren't taking two years to come out.
I'm not sure how I feel about the trip to Jupiter. I dunno, I've never been a fan of characters who got sucked into the war effort against their will staying there after their show is over. It wasn't as bad with Judau as it was with Amuro and Camille, and it's nice that Judau found something worthwhile to do with his life. But why couldn't he stay reunited with Leina? They had plenty of pain along the way and bittersweet at the end, could't they have at least given the siblings an unmitigate happy ending?
/airing what little grievances I have over ZZ
*not so subtly encourages you to write fic* (What kind of fic, by the way?)
I wanted to write about Leina and Sayla, actually. All my fine fic ideas have fallen a bit behind in my mind though, I might have to rewatch some episodes to find them again.
Oh yeah, and I wanted to do a Kamille and Fa recovery fic. Weird, how I suddenly started liking Kamille after he broke.
