I'm just gonna throw in the towel right now. There's no point in deluding myself any longer. At least by doing this now I can save face and quit putting people in awkward places. And I'll be able to quit annoying them with my incessant whining and worrying over it all. So fuck it.
All the signs point to getting the fuck over this. I mean, you can only beat a dead cow over the head enough times before the reality hits it that it's dead. (Ok, I'm tired and a little bit tipsy, so that last sentence may not make much sense to the sober readers.)
