Will someone kindly tell me why if my entire life story is considered popular entertainment, it must be so... popular? By which I mean the deplorable quality of this "musical" I have heard tell of. The man would not get a job notating scores, where I am from. And while opera is rarely notable for great poetry, lines like "it's over now, the music of the night" make no sense.
Why would anyone wear a mask over half their face unless they were in some sort accident with acid?
And if one cannot speak French one should not write libretti which contain French names, attempting to squish "Raoul" into one syllable. It is hardly an attractive name to begin with, but "Rowl" is hardly an improvement.
And what sort of title is "The Phantom of the Opera"? Sounds like melodramatic drivel, if you ask me.
[Yes, Erik's discovered Lloyd Webber. He's very disturbed by the implications of his whole life being exposed in this manner, but it's easier to be irritated by the musical itself.]
