In which I ramble about Christmas, &c...

First of all, Happy December! ;) I can't believe it's December already. I love this time of year, with all the aniticipation of Christmas, and the festive music and decorations... It's almost sad when Christmas comes, because then it's all over. If you know what I mean. I just find myself getting frustrated with all these Christmas commercials - they're just all so ridiculous and... commercial. Funny ones are usually just annoying, and sentimental ones just seem hypocritical, with their message of "the true meaning is with family" but they're still trying to sell you something.

Hmm, so I've become very critical lately, lol. We still don't have any decorations up around my house. Maybe this weekend, though we're only putting up one tree this year because there's no room for our second tree in the basement. Christmas will be different this year, especially since my grandparents are having Christmas day up at their house, instead of relatives coming to our house. Which might be nice, 'cause then we don't have to worry about getting our house ready for company on Christmas day, and it won't matter that we're opening our presents upstairs this year.

Yikes, I'm babbling. I'm really looking forward to it all! But I need to get my Christmas shopping planned and done. It's easier when your family members tell you what they want - I'm horrible at wandering around trying to fin the perfect gift. I always think "No, I'll find something better" and then I never buy anything!

Oops, rambling again.

On another note, I am in love with Nickel Creek's music at the moment. I have all of their CDs (3) on the computer, but I'd like to physicall have on, too. They've got a "Best of" album which looks perfect, and it comes with a DVD! Here are a couple of faves:
Please change hxxp to http.

The Lighthouses Tale
- This song is so pretty, but so sad. I had tears in my eyes when I took in the words.

The Fox
- an upbeat, folk-song sounding piece

Beauty and the Mess
- a bit different than the first two, edgier
They've got such a unique sound - so pretty and richly "old fashioned" but at the same time it's fresh and modern, too. Nickel Creek = love

The flu is now going around in the daycare. I've been fine, but a few kids have caught it. Yesterday, one little boy threw up just before lunch (though he seemed fine in the morning). Two others stayed home today. Also, we were at full capacity yesterday with 13 kids. Today was nice and quiet with only 8. (That's not just because of illness).

Tonight is the Ladies' Advent Tea at my church. My mom is in charge of organizing it all, so she has been very busy as of late, but it always turns out wonderfully. I'm going this year, and looking forward to it. My social life has been lacking, and a night out (dressed up in my pretty red "forties/fifties" dress) with tea and desserts sounds heavenly. There is also a guest speaker, special music, and the singing of Christmas carols.

Oh, and I did I mention there's a very real possibility of me going to England next year? I know I said it's a vague deram, but now there's a Bible school that my mom knows of that I could attend. It just seems perfect, because when I think of staying here and applying for schools, I just get overwhelmed and sad, but the thought of spending the year in England, studying in a Christian environment, making friends from all over - it's so terrifying-ly exciting! I mentioned it at my weekly girls' bible study, and Melanie (on of the leaders) got so excited for me! So I'm praying about that. I know it has to be all God, and I want to make sure I'm not going for the wrong reasons, because if it's not supposed to happen, going there could be really bad. But I think it's such a great opportunity to grow.

I suppose that's it - I didn't realize I had so much to mention. Oh, and a little "P.S." - be sure to vote at BBC Drama - Best of 2006! *Cough* Robin Hood *Cough, cough* Jane Eyre *cough* David Tennant. (Plus, I love that the banner has David Tennant, Ruth Wilson, and Jonas Armstrong! That, and how N&S won every category in 2004, and Doctor Who in 2005).
