I promise I'm trying to post more often.
Anyway, remember back when I said I wanted to sew at least one item a week? Well, here goes. I'm starting my little adventure off with this skirt/bow combination taken in our dirty-ass dorm mirror ^___^
I love the intense look on my face! Anyway, apologizing for the weird setting, pose, etc. I made the bow and skirt. The skirt was my first time trying pin-tucks (I should have tried to get close-ups of the very few details) and they came out incredibly large. However, I did a decent job lining the skirt, making sure that the stitches were nice and neat and not veering off of the trail. The fabric was very nice kona cotton which makes this one a bit heavier than some of the other ones I have made, but it works out better for this colder weather. The bow has too many layers and sits funny on mah head.
The shirt is from Macy's and the shoes are from Walmart. I actually really like these shoes but the heel is too high for me and I don't like being taller than I already am.
Anyway, I'm working on my holiday shopping list for myself and I'm trying to minimize exorbitant purchases. I'm in the process of loli-fying my wardrobe and bedroom/dormroom. First off I need to get a couple of frilly shirts. I'm looking at like 3 white/off white shirts and one black shirt all of which are fantastically frilly and then one or two plain-ish shirts for casual wear. I'm also looking at one or two vests and a black pencil skirt to wear with the frilly shirts when I'm downplaying the girly and upping the sophistication (or just going without the loli).
I need to buy some solid knee high black and white socks, striped socks, and black lace stockings because currently I've got NO loli hosiery. It sucks. I also happen to need another pair of white bloomers, a pair of black bloomers, and a black petti.
Finally, I need a solid pair of black mary janes. Eventually I'll get a pair of white ones, but right now i just need some black ones.
After buying the essentials, I plan on making skirts, jumperskirts, bows, accessories, and jewelry pieces to save a bit of money.
I am also about to buy a new bedset so that I can get out of this dreary dark room that I've surrounded myself with:
This is the set that I'm going to get over the next few days. I really love the color and it's Hello Kitty with sophistication and not that sugary super pink that you usually see. I've got to find window treatments, and area rug, and other furnishings to match it so it's not like a boat of pink in a sea of black.
But, yeah. That's it for now. I'l try to stick by my resolution to sew/craft/create one item a week and post it here on lJ. Peace peoples!
