blady blah. not much to tell. i finished my course on economic botany... now lets hope i can actualy do something with those 4 credits, and count them towards my program. furthermore ive been trying to get my act together as far as the thesis goes. its going.. uninterestingly. hopefully over the next week or so ill have something positive to remark on it for once. i think ive just gotten "disenchanted" with the whole thing, and just want it to be done. its sad because a year ago i was SO excited about it, but i guess thats what happens when TOO many things go wrong with a project like this. i just dont wanna do it anymore. i mean, i dont wanna give up on the topic as a whole, but im like.. depressed about the fact that the project isnt as cool as it could have been and as i had originally planned. so im stuck with this "lame version" of my awesome project that i know could have so much more potential. well, anyway yesterday was an exciting adventure in salsa dancing. i started out teaching a class to vlad and nellie and "the gang" and catching up with them. i finally got invited to play soccer with the gang on wednesday which im excited about. i guess now that fernando is on his vacation traveling around europe, they are short on players and have resorted to inviting even the likes of me to play. after vlad and nellie's i went to a salsa workshop that was being held at the amstelpark. mostly it was lame and very basic, but thats to be expected. it was funny because they taught a very basic class, and then after it was over they played some music and everyone started dancing freely... and about half of the people there were actually really good dancers who had just been pretending to be beginners. including myself i guess hahaha. then in the evening i went to Ari's and practiced the conga for a while, and then worked on the "routine" with him which went really interestingly because we did some fancy moves for the first time. let me paint the scene for you... Ari is kinda a "little old man". he is about the same height as me.. maybe a bit taller. and he is around 60. yea so keeping that in mind, he decided it was a good idea to practice a lift last night. so in itself thats already complicated. but then he likes to introduce new moves to me without warning... i guess just to see how i will react to it. well i was like UHHHHH WHAT are we doing? and he was like " just put your feet in the air" and i was like "BOTH of them? AT THE SAME TIME?!!! Are you crazy?!" i seriously thought his back was gonna go out or something. but LUCKILY nothing bad happend. hahaha. it didnt look very gracefull though. but i guess thats what practice is for. all in all it was more than a little bit akward. yup well, maybe it will go better today.
