Extra! National Pass-Time Marred by Indecent Display!

Since a certain incident is still being talked about on my friends list, and some folks seemed to have liked my faux-vintage sillyness posted the other day enough to yoink it to elsewhere, I'm posting this in my own journal as well. Appologies to those who've already seen this. -- F.

Extra! National Pass-Time Marred by Indecent Display!

Spectators at the World's Series Game were shocked by an unexpected improper glimpse of womanly flesh.

The Boston Pilgrims had scarcely left the field for the seventh-inning stretch when famed soubrette Miss Anna Held favoured the bleachers with a song and dance, in the execution of which the pulchritudinous entertaintrix bared her right calf. More shocking still to many, said lower limb was discovered to be decorated with a frilly garter.

As Honus Wagner observed, "It's a bear!"

Anthony Comstock called for closer government oversight of base-ball to eliminate what he alleges are the "moral impurities" associated the sport, noting the plethora of bill-boards and dodgers around the ball-park advertising patent-medicines for "restoration of lost man-hood".

While Miss Held claimed that the indecent exposure was accidental, in the Baltimore Morning Herald H. L. Mencken opined that the entire display was likely deliberately concocted to distract the Republic from more important matters, noting that attacks on American troops in the Philippines continue despite the capture of Aguinaldo, and no sign has ever been found of the large-caliber howitzers which President Roosevelt alledged were in the hands of the wiley Filipinos.

Reports indicate that news-boys throughout the nation are already surreptitiously selling chromo-lithographs of Miss Held in the now notorious compromising position.
