Ack, I have some type of bug, with fever, sore throat... I went down town to the Quarter yesterday morning for the French Quarter Festival colloquium breakfast, but went home back to bed after it. I was basically mute from the throat. Jon Pult agreed to read my presentation if I couldn't.
After a nap yesterday I took some asprin and had icecream. Then found a thermometer and took my temperature -- 103.8. I'm sure it had been higher earlier in the day. My voice came back some as a low froggy croak.
With regret I decided I shouldn't try to do my presentation at the colloquium. I called Sue Fisher, who picked up my notes and cds, and presumably Jon will be giving it.
Its on New Orleans jazz recordings from the 1910s. A good bit of stuff AFAIK never reissued; I burned some 78s and Edison discs I'd taped onto cds.
I guess I so thoroghly immerced myself into the 1910s in preparation that I wound up catching the Spanish Flu!
Well, whatever it is, my temperature is down to 102 this morning. Today's plan: rest & recovery.
