Hi!
I'm James and I am an INFP mostly....I have a very big T on most tests so I guess I'm in between.
Is anyone else like that?
I don't really have a lot to say about myself so I'll post later.

Hello .) Yeah, I am INFP but sometimes test as INFJ or even ENFJ depending on the test. I'm pretty close to the middle on J vs. P. But after reading many descriptions and the results of various tests, I identify myself as INFP because the description for that type always suits me best.

for instance INFJs don't make decisions based on feeling & more on introverted iNtuition, because that's their dominant function

I don't think the fact that it is their dominant function implies it is a judging function.

I would say: there are four functions, two judging functions (T and F), and two perception functions (N and S). Each function can have one of two attitudes (I or E). Any function in any attitude can be dominant. The second function needs to be from the other pair (because you need both perception and judgement) and should have the opposite attitude (because you must deal both with internal and external direction). The four-letter abbreviation indicated the attitude of the dominant function, the strongest perception function, the strongest judging function, and the type of function that is most visible to the outside world (which indicated the dominant for extraverted type and the auxiliary for introverted types).

Thank you for posting this.

My introduction to the MBTI occurred about a year ago through a program I did at work. Understanding the theory seems to come quite naturally to me, but I am definitely still learning all the intricacies.

One of the things I 'got' about the theory, from the very beginning, was that you are either one or the other of each funcion*. You are either introverted OR extraverted. You are either a thinking type OR a feeling type. There is no in between, no matter how 'close' the scores are. It really irritated me that other people on the program just didn't get that tenet of the theory.

We can certainly learn to use our less preferred functions, indeed we should learn to use all 8 functions, but our preferred natural functions will never chage (test results may change depending on life circumstances at the time of taking the test however ( ... )

Hey, I'm another INFP that generally tests pretty weak on the F (and occasionally test as a T). Of course I seem to have gone to school with a ton of thinkers and am now working in a profession dominated by thinker-types, which poses interesting questions about the nature of the MBTI.

P is my weakest characteristic. I've ended up with INFJ two or three times.
