It's been quite a while since I've posted! To be honest, I'm not on LJ very much these days. I like think it's because I'm "busy," but my idea of incredibly busy is probably a mildly stimulating day for normal people. xD
I've only been in school for about a week and a half, but it's definitely at the front of my mind. And with 7 classes, 2 of them AP and 2 Honors, it's already stressful. I'm currently working on an Oscar Wilde research paper for Lit (and in the next month I also have to reread Pride and Prejudice..) Tomorrow I'm actually going to a college to find more sources! I love reading, just.. on my own time.
Really, the only interesting things I've done since my last post were finally seeing my friends in the Aladdin play (I went again tonight!) who were quite good, but.. other factors- such as 50 small children sharing the stage and I'm not exaggerating, and a terrible, tiny auditorium- were kind of annoying. Not to mention the soundtrack is all kinds of earworming in my head. I also saw an interesting Dali exhibit at the museum in Atlanta and discovered they have my favorite artist, Monet!
The "Ground Zero Mosque" debate is reallllllly annoying me recently. I don't see what's so hard to understand about a.) it's not a mosque, b.) it's not at Ground Zero, c.) you can't preach to the world and brag about how free America is and how many rights we enjoy, then get mad when those rights AREN'T DENIED. It was a national tragedy, but there's no national tragedy exception clause to the 1st Amendment; this is nothing more than a thin veil for Islamophobia. Oh, and there's already a mosque like an extra block away. And, an abandoned lot that used to be a Burlington Coat Factory is not "hallowed ground." /rant.
