February Album Writing Month beckons!
Songwriters! February is coming up, and I invite you to join me in the FAWM challenge: Fourteen songs in twenty-eight days. It's a challenge, not a competition, the idea is to join a community to help give your muse a kick in the ass.
I've entered the challenge several times. I usually wind up with four or five songs, three of which are good, and one that goes into my regular rotation at open mic night. Might not be fourteen, but that five is a lot more songs than I've been writing, sitting on my butt with all my instruments resting in their case.
Plus, they've got the jargon word, 'ZONG,' which means a posted song with zero comments. FAWMers are encouraged to click the ZONG link and give positive feedback on songs that haven't had any comments yet. And if you post a streamable MP3, they'll put you in rotation on the jukebox!
(You provide your own file hosting, but Google Sites works just fine for me so far.)
I haven't done it in a few years. Sometimes because circumstances prevented me from doing so, sometimes because I just got lazy and/or depressed. So, if I announce it, and encourage my friends to join me, perhaps we can create some awesome!
