Dear Resident,
I must admit it was highly disturbing being awoken at midnight to the sound of your dog being smacked around.
The curse to living in this complex is that of paper thin walls and floors. I heard you yelling at your dog for peeing in its kennel. Perhaps it would be worth while to note that your dog was barking at 10:30 PM. It would not be an ill assumption to think he was giving a warning of his full bladder at that time.
As someone with professional K-9 training experience, as well as common sense, disciplining your dog because YOU were not there in time to take them out will NOT stop them from doing it in the future. Like humans, dogs can only hold their urine for so long before it has to come out, and as a pet owner it would be wise to think about why this happened and if it's truly the dogs fault before you hurt them.
Sincerely,
A Concerned Neighbor.
