So my game is fixed and now I'm afraid of closing it out in fear of jinxing it. Basically, I just made sure there was no residuals of the initial game and made careful to avoid installing the EA downloader program because that may have been the thing that fucked up my game (because it was working fine the other day) by downloading a program that killed my game. But don't worry - everything's intact because I have things backed up in other places, so my neighborhoods are safe.
