A transwoman is on trial because her husband's family is claiming that because she was born biologically male, her marriage was a "same-sex" marriage and therefore not legal so she can't be inheriting any money from his estate.
Gender is not binary. If the woman in question says she's a woman, then she is a woman, regardless of what genitals she was born with. It's just all the more reason why marriage equality should be the law of the land, since transgendered people also get affected especially as they are misgendered by the ignorant masses like the dead husband's vindictive assholish family.
Oh, and the lovely nugget here is that they claim that she lied to her husband about her transition from male to female. Somehow, I don't believe that line one bit and the man she married loved her regardless.
