Character Sketch: Dimitri Mikhailachev

Jul 20, 2010 15:14

1) Dimitri is the oldest of Rasputin's children, being two years older than his late brother Vladimir and twelve years older than his two sisters Mariya and Olga.  He is, of course, the only one of the children of Rasputin and first husband Malcolm left alive, and that was obviously due to the fact that he is the first spontaneous vampire to appear since the time of Pavel II.

2) Dimitri met first spouse John while in high school.  John was Clara's older brother (Clara being the one to have married Mariya).  They started out as friends when Dimitri had helped fend off some bullies who were picking on John for his homosexuality.  Dimitri was already aware of his bisexuality at this point.

3) Dimitri and John did not become an official couple until senior year of high school, and even before then, people learned quickly not to mess with Dimitri, who was willing and able to kick the ass of anyone who made homophobic comments about his relationship with John.

4) Dimitri was very close with his grandfather Grigori, which is why his firstborn son was so named and why Dimitri wears the outfit that his grandfather wore in his prime.  It is also part of the reason Dimitri was so devastated when his son Grigori died (the other reason being that Grigori was the first child that Dimitri had with John and losing John was another devastating moment in Dimitri's life).

5) John developed the symptoms of rejection to Mikhailachev vampirism about three months after the birth of Sofya, Dimitri's third child and only daughter.  John is the only victim of this who did not die because of resentment to the host vampire, as it was in the case of Kliment's first husband Jay and Mischa's first husband Jake.  It was indeed confirmed in his case that leukemia and Mikhailachev vampirism do not mix.

6) When Dimitri initially meets Marion, he could not stop thinking about her and realizes that he was sexually attracted to her.  He tells John about this, and John gives him his blessing to pursue another relationship as he knew that Dimitri would need someone to be there for him.  This is why John, in his final words to Marion, asks that she take care of Dimitri from there on out.

7) Dimitri was just as sad when he learned the news of his son Vladimir's death, but it didn't quite have the impact on him that Grigori's death did.  He was the pillar of strength this time around, as it was Marion who cried and he was the one who did the comforting.

8) Dimitri still maintains close communication with his father Rasputin, nephew Mischa, and grandson Kliment.  With Kliment, it feels all the more important, as like everyone else who learned of Jay's diary, Dimitri was infuriated that Kliment had been used and abused all this time.

9) When Dimitri questioned Kliment's new husband Bogdan, he asked him if he knew how to touch Kliment's romantic sensibilities.  Bogdan tells Dimitri that he had given Kliment flowers for their first wedding anniversary.

10) Dimitri still remains super-protective of Kliment and wants to be there for him at the first sign of trouble.  He visits Kliment on a frequent basis.

Dimitri is the meanest regular character that I've ever had in Mikhailachev Manor, having only one nice point. But his badass-ness is part of his charm. :3
