It was a big politically packed weekend here in Oregon and I was there for a major part of the festivities. On Saturday I attended a Hillary Clinton rally at North Clackamas Park. The Senator wasn't there, but her husband and former president, Bill Clinton and their daughter Chelsea spoke. The crowd was much smaller than I had imagined. That was fine letting me get very close to the speaking platform. Bill's speech was good with many solid ideas for the country with a plan on how to achieve set goals.
Sunday I went downtown to Tom McCall Park to the Obama rally. On the way there I ran into President Clinton and Chelsea again. They were at Mother's Bistro on 2nd Ave. eating brunch. I thought it funny that they were there just ten blocks away from the oppositions rally. Still I was glad for the chance happening.
The Obama rally was insanely crowded and had the feel of a rock concert. I found a good spot under a tree and was able to see Barrack give his speech even though he was fifty yards away. His speech was full of vision and wonderful passionate ideas, but he lacked stating how he would achieve his platform.
I had fun at both rallies and was really inspired again with hope for the United States and its political system. I believe either candidate would make a fine president. I prey when November comes the rest of the country agrees with my outlook.
