I used to have a rule: no discussions of religion, politics, or sexuality on the internet. There were some strong personal reasons for that.
As of last week, that rule is off the table. Why should I worry about getting in trouble for anything I happen to say when Trump has been saying what he's been saying throughout his campaign and is now the president-elect?
The biggest lesson I've learned from the past fifteen years is that silence is complicity.
Normally I'd lock this post. Maybe even filter-lock it. But it's come to my attention that I've spent a long time modulating my tone in the wrong way and for the wrong reason. I will not be doing much link-sharing awareness activism because there are plenty of other sources for that and I have limited time and energy, but if there's anyone who's used my preference for genfic and disinclination for argument as confirmation of a bland pocket universe where they never have to weigh in on how anybody outside their demographic feels about things, they should take this as notice to stop doing that.
