First fic post of the new year... well, sorta. Nine of these were written months ago, and I couldn't do the last one until now (when I switched it from Sherlock to Tron.... nothing against Sherlock, but that isn't where my brain is right now).

As grabbed from
eponymous_rose and others, this is The Multifandom Fanfiction Meme!

1: Pick five fandoms. List them in alphabetical order.
2: Visit this site for a random poem. Write down the 5th line (yes, even if it's an E.E. Cummings poem and you wind up with an apostrophe). Repeat five times and -- you guessed it -- list the lines in alphabetical order! (No cheating, mind! This is a challenge and it's always been about creativity.)
3: Write a very quick 50-word half-drabble for each fandom (try to do it all in one sitting -- make your brain explode!), using the line from the poem as a prompt. You don't have to include it in the half-drabble -- it's just inspiration.
4: Bravo! Have a cookie.

(..I forgot to put the lines in alphabetical order until I'd finished most of them. I wasn't cheating, really! I just forgot. Did remember the second time though.~)

First round:

Because their words had forked no lightning they || Avatar: The Last Airbender

The next storm caught them halfway between two nameless towns. Zuko, water trailing from his hat, scowled as he stumped through it, but sat down silently when they reached the cave, ignoring both storm and fire, his bowed back a silent promise that he would not seek the lightning again.

Till One Breadth cover Two -- || Bleach

The splintered glass sprayed like water, and his breath suddenly caught.

When had the water gone?

When had his city reared up around him, towering, mist-entangled, drenched in reflected light?

His zanpakutou, no longer a stranger, met his eye and he could have sworn he saw a fleeting smile.

But leaves no mark || Doctor Who

"This is what happens when I let you humans play with my chemistry set."

"No, it's what happens when you step in an alien nettle patch! You're lucky the chemicals were labeled in English. Now leave the poultice on for--"

"Pond!! Come do something about your husband... he's mothering me!"

I've seen them in captivity || Star Trek

McCoy lost it after Ensign Jonas died, raging around Sickbay until Chapel had to shove him against a wall and yell in his face. It was the worst outburst Spock had witnessed, and the first time he realized the strength it took for McCoy to seal those emotions away again.

Because the barbarians are coming today || TMNT

Candles balanced on bamboo poles; mats laid out for meditation; incense to sweeten the air; rags, whetstones, and thread to maintain the dojo equipment... Splinter paused and surveyed the room. Then, smiling, he picked up the phone to order an extra-large pizza, because his boys would be hungry tonight.

Second round:

Assim em cada lago a lua toda (so in each lake and the whole moon) || Harry Potter

The full moon swam as he opened his eyes and he was thirteen again, hearing the wind howl as a rat's tail whisked away into the darkness.

His son stirred in his arms, with a preverbal sound of curiosity, and he reached for his glasses and held the baby tighter.

Because the body itself -- the heart's || Naruto

It didn't matter, the bones grinding in his arm and leg, the blood dripping from his hand. It didn't matter.

It didn't matter, the knowledge of pain that was faint and far away.

Roots; fibers; physical impossibilities: it didn't matter.

Heart; the path: those mattered. And his heart was standing.

Changing, second by second, shifting and changing the light || NCIS

Religious freedom in the States stretched a long way, but not enough to permit lighting candles in a Federal building. Not that Ziva minded. But when Abby gleefully summoned her downstairs to see the surreptitious spot-welded menorah twinkling in her lab window, she had to smile at the light.

Time past she has been attempted and pursued || Real Ghostbusters

"So," the voice cackled behind her ear, "you can finally hear me. Now open the containment unit. Soon my ghouls will all be free--"

Janine sighed. Unbelievable.

"Oh, Egon? Break out that brain helmet thing, willya? I got another one."

You just couldn't get good quality mind control these days.

Uncertified of scene || Tron: Legacy

He was watching the city again. Quorra, folding her legs under her to sit beside him, looked too.

"Why do you do that?" she said softly. "Nothing changes except the clouds."

"Every nanocycle," he answered, "is an irrevocable change."

It was many long cycles before she understood what he meant.
