Now that

intoabar is over, I'm looking into catching up on other things. Like Merlin, in which I'm a season and a half behind. Even though the dialog sometimes makes me want to scream, throw things at the screen, turn the sound off, and make up my own version of what the blazes is going on, because is it just me or are these characters the least genre-savvy people ever!? Promising the girl he'll be back when the whole town is looking for her and he was already almost caught once, and not even an "if you don't see me that means I'm caught and this is the plan for how to get out of town safely"? Really, he's been living under Uther's nose for how long now? And as for the "uh oh, she's changing from a helpless girl into a ravening bloodthirsty monster, let's all just watch for two whole minutes until the transformation's complete, because it's not like it'd be a great idea to attack while she's incapacitated".... you fail too, Arthur. Faaaail.
..why do I watch this stuff. Oh, right. Katie McGrath, Colin Firth *edit* Colin Morgan, and Anthony Head are in it.
As for Gunnerkrigg Court, this is me, agreeing with everyone who says
Reynardine = Annie's substitute dad. 'Cos that trope will always get me. ^^ And it makes perfect sense that
Annie's cheating even though she could well be bright enough to figure out the work on her own IF she had the attention to spare. But she thinks she doesn't. She thinks the whooole plot -- Coyote, Jeanne, the Court's perfidy, possibly being the Court's medium, everything that happened to Reynardine -- rests on her shoulders. Without an outlet, schoolwork won't fit in her head, no matter how bright she is. Tell me you don't know someone for whom that's true. Hopefully, though, this chapter will see her friends descend on her in a pile of well-meaning fluff until she learns to cry it out and prioritize.
Also, five points if she yells "You're not my father," within the next few pages.
Skipping NCIS until next week because it's a two-parter. But NCIS-LA: a Hetty-intensive episode, eeeee.
"Is Hetty up there?" "Yeah, she's--" *looks around* ...."I'm sorry... she's like a ninja." ..."I guess that's the difference between us, Mattias. Despite my efforts to keep these ones at arm's length, I'm not in this alone." Well-written episode, that, and Linda Hunt needs to get some kind of award for the performance she put into it. I didn't expect any of what happened. Also, had not -- so far -- gotten around to mentioning Nell Jones, who is adorable and should stay in the show forever, and who is going to be the target of a picspam when I get my act together.
Naruto:
NOOOOOO, ANKO!!! ;; Is it too much to hope she's not dead? Kabutomaru doesn't have any reason to keep her alive. The only way I'll forgive Kishimoto for not showing that fight is if it's because he didn't want to watch her die either. He'd better not kill Gai too. That would just... gah.
Bleach:
well, I flailed on capslock_bleach about how this arc -- mini-arc? -- is the best thing since ever. "Do you have... tea?" "Will... bread be okay?" "If carrying it around meant you like it, then I would be carrying chocolate." Art upgrade for Ururu, Karin going to see Urahara, Ishida calling Ichigo weird, Orihime being Orihime, Ichigo finding out that the ramen guy knows something about his family... it just gets better and better. And there's reiatsu around Ichigo for some reason. Not his powers returning, or Ishida and Orihime would recognize it, right? And with the prospect of Isshin's backstory, Karin having all the potential for shinigami training that Ichigo had, and Ichigo (inevitably, since he's the hero) eventually getting his powers back, this arc pleases me immensely.
Leaving a lot of stuff out, like the weather and odd dreams and finally seeing 9 and aslkgsgd wanting to see new Harry Potter and etc etc etc. But there is no tiiiime.
