I got home from my first day on the job and immediately conked out -- and actually fell asleep without any trouble for the first time in weeks. Ye cats. Knew all along that I need work to be happy, but this is ridiculous. :)
So: art post! And this one starts with something special. For a while now, I've been slowly uploading pictures to my Deviantart site, and someone there saw my old 2006 sketch of
Death of the Discworld and wanted to color it. And did.
And it's AMAZING! Looks ten times better in color, if I do say so myself. Yay!
Moving onward:
For
lizbee: Mary Russell from Laurie R. King's Beekeeper's Apprentice books! Erm, please keep in mind that I've still only read the first one and got her description off Wikipedia, but I hope she suits anyway!
Backstory: way back when Naruto was all new (only on Volume 10, imagine that!), Rock Lee was grievously injured and it was thought he would never walk again, much less resume his ninja training. That didn't keep him down, but when his crutches didn't get him where he was going fast enough, Gai would occasionally give him a lift. This was mostly a perspective sketch.
..And another, also from Naruto: Hatake Kakashi practicing his chidori, the lightning-hand technique also known as the Thousand Piping Birds.
Two random sketches of Bob the Ghost from The Dresden Files. I found this in my 'unfinished' pile and couldn't even remember starting it. Bob's character design has given me trouble now and then, but these sketches seem to work.
I people-watch. This is what happens.
This is another one I didn't remember drawing. I have to raid that unfinished pile more often.
Getting a sprained ankle gave me an excuse to practice feet. Clearly I need a lot more practice. ;) This is from the first week after the injury; now, the visible manifestations are gone and I can barely feel the twinge anymore.
This is much older: a clip of an attempt at a Wimsey and Vane picture. Her face didn't turn out right, but his did.
In which I entirely fail to draw Pine!Kirk, and Shatner!Kirk's face is far too lean. There are some major differences in their facial structures, most notably the foreheads, eyebrows, and chins. I'll have to do this again sometime.
Inspired by
OotS #645: Haley and Darth Vaarsuvius reunite in Greysky City.
I guess it's not really spoilery, since there's no background or context, but this picture was inspired by
OotS 658, the most recent comic. Vaarsuvius and O-Chul have been through the mill at this point, but the end is in sight... one end or another, anyway.
