It is done. I have graduated. I am now an Associate of Science. (Hi, Science!)

The most interesting points of the ceremony were: (a) the fact that all the speeches were written in the public-relations subset of Low Common Bureaucratese, as evinced by gratuitous use of words like 'synergistic' and randomly irrelevant pastoral imagery; (b) the bit near the end where all graduates were asked to move their mortarboard tassels from the right side of their hats to the left; and (c) the exit procession, at the head of which a chap in exceedingly garish robes bore the enormous and weirdly stylized Official School Mace.

Upon returning to my seat, I opened the booklet they'd given me on the podium. The inscription therein, again translated from Bureaucratese, read simply "The diploma is in the mail."

Must get to sleep now, as my next class starts at nine o'clock tomorrow. A graduate's work is never done.
