Hello, this is my first post, thank you for creating this community!
A little over a month ago I was at the grocery store checkout and didn't have quite enough cash for everything, so I had the clerk void items until the total was lowerered to an affordable amount.
So I paid for my things and started to walk away from the register when the woman who was next in line said "Wait, ma'am".
I thought I'd done something wrong.
She told the clerk to put some of the items on her bill, I protested politely but awkwardly, but she insisted and said "I've been there, I know how it is" (or something to that effect).
I couldn't believe it. I was so grateful. I grinned and thanked her and left the store in a bit of a daze.
Now, I was in no danger of starving, I just hadn't brought enough cash with me, but I did need those items (they weren't junkfood).
Wherever she is now I hope someone surprises her with kindness.
Now that I think of it, I wish I'd thought to put a thanks in the newspaper right after it happened.
Anyway, that was a humbling but enlightening experience, and it made my day :)
