Driving like the other cars have people in them

This morning on my way over the mountain, there were many cars going slowly. They all pulled over at the first opportunity. I flashed my hazards in thanks as I drove past, and so did the other people in the line. When it was my turn to pull over, I'd already planned it out and I pulled into the wide spot; the cars behind me whizzed past, flashing their hazards in thanks. It was as if we were all just interested in getting there alive and happy. The drive went very smoothly, with no anger or frustration to disturb the beautiful sunrise.

At the freeway, there we were, all lined up again. The passing didn't make much difference, except that everybody felt comfortable, and nobody seemed stressed out. Today, I'm thankful that we all just got along.
