grew up in the 1990s and i'm proud

below is a list of things i am proud to say were apart of my childhood (because it was in the 90s-- some might be the result of location)...

1. light brite
2. colorful, simple toys that might not have talked and might not have guarenteed an advanced vocabulary but I still had fun with them
3. seaseme street
4. only one ken doll.... who had real hair
5. a plethora of barbies and one wacked out skipper (her little sister)
6. playmobil characters
7. Bryer horses
8. no wallmart (in newport) until the new mellenium (am i right on this fact?)
9. naked baby pictures... because now parents get arrested for naked baby pics
10. thinking the clothes melissa jone heart wore in "clarissa explains it all" were amazing
11. salute your shorts, hey dude, old skool doug
12. seeing the lion king 3 times... in theaters
13. hurricane bob
14. remembering the old trees that lined memorial bevld. until hurricane bob
15. show and tell
16. school shootings? what kid in 1992 knew what a gun was... let along brought one to school
17. seaseme street (repeated for emphasis)
18. life before the internet
19. writing a school paper... on a word processor
20. playing outside
21. bike riding
22. not getting drunk for the first time until 16/17 (now 13yr olds get drunk!)
23. YMCA dances (before they got creepy)
24. D.A.R.E. (even if it didn't really work)
25. what was a dvd?
26. watching star wars 4, 5, 6 before 1, 2, 3.
27. seeing CATS on Broadway
28. NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK (I had the lunch box)
29. Joey from NKOTB
30. American Girl dolls (originals) (what were their names?: Samantha, Molly, Kirstin....)
31. thinking (really until this past fall) that hurricanes are fun and not that bad
32. boogie boarding
33. Music Hall Cafe (mary knows what I'm talking about... and all i can say is: quesdillias)
34. my mom having madonna's like a prayer album... on tape
35. riding in the front seat before i should have... but not knowing it was a saftey hazard.

these are mine... i feel like i could go on but i have an essay to write about hugging... please insert your comments about the 1990s.
