Look, maybe I don't get it. I don't understand your father, I don't understand how he could that. Why would I? But he's your dad. What do you think's going to happen? He'll send assassins to the wedding?

It's not that simple. Hmm... how to put this...

In a way, he isn't even really my father. He is... a sperm donor. When he realized I wasn't going to become what he wanted? He just tried to use me up then drop me.

I doubt he even tried to kill me because he had some grudge. It was business, pure and simple. I know too much, so he tried to erase that knowledge.

If I were to hedge a guess? He probably still sees me as his property if he thinks about me at all. Besides, he already knows about the wedding. Of that I am certain.

It's not just about his blood. He saw to your upbringing, even if he wasn't there. He arranged it. He's your father. He may be a terrible father, but you don't have another.

And of course he knows about the wedding, which means you have nothing to lose here. If he doesn't take the olive branch, you've. Lost. Nothing. Write him an invitation.

Your father may have been awesome. But it was because he was a great person, not because he was your father.

Yeah, I am projecting, but he still deserves to be invited. It's the right thing to do, and frankly, it'll be good for both of you.

I know he's a blood money war profiteer, but he put a lot into you. You have to mean something to him. Think about it from his side... how he would feel if he was invited.

Honestly? He would probably be amused at my emotional weakness. I don't doubt that I mean something to him. I represent years of conditioning and millions perhaps billions of dollars. I represent quite the investment, but that is not the same thing as what you are talking about.

No... I do wish I could just invite him. But it's never been like that between us. If nothing else, I would like to meet my brother... At least I assume he is my brother anyway. But I know that isn't going to happen, so I won't worry about it...
