(no subject)
I don't know why I'm so easily irritated. Even in the Drama department, which is the only thing about my school I like, I still have the urge to swear at people.
I suppose I just don't like loud people. The noise generates heat, and heat makes me angry, and I don't hide my emotions well.
Back to Drama. It has been really fun. I can't wait until next year, when I'll be elligable to be in more things. Our productions are really good, too. We usually win a great number of awards. The nominees for this year's High School theatre awards haven't been announced yet, but if we're not even nominated for best set, there is something wrong with this world. We have a two-story set that completely rotates, and we can do the scene change in 1:08. It's pretty spectacular. We got applause every time we moved it.
This was the first show for which I did tech, and it was interesting. Everyone had to sit in the blackbox to wait for the scene changes, and it got pretty loud after a while. I think I prefer waiting in the actual backstage area, just because it's easier to tell what's going on onstage. Yeah. I might do tech again, but it wouldn't be my first choice.
The really cool thing is that if we are nominated for set, running crew, or best play, I get to go to the awards ceremony! And if we win one of those, I get an award! So yay! It's an exciting time to be alive.
On a completely unrelated subject, I don't know why everyone is freaking out about swine flu. Not that many people have died when compared to almost any other disease, and it's treatable. 10,000 people die from the regular flu each year, and no one calls it an epidemic. Of course, it's awful for anyone to die of anything when it's someone you know, but creating a panic doesn't help anything. If cnn would stop keeping a running tally of those diagnosed, and all the other stations stopped constantly reminding people of the symptoms, it probably wouldn't be causing a problem at all.
