Here are some poems originally posted to the community linebyline. The phrase that must be included in the entry is in bold text.
--
There is an ethereal muse
Perched on the tip of a writer's pen.
Gracing the empty lines
With something more.
Of all the lovers in the world,
It is a fickle one, that shimmering muse.
For it is merely a transient beauty
In the mind of a dreamer.
---
underneath the
broken dreams are
new dreams, new hopes
flooding fast
into his ponderous, fragile mind
adrift
amongst the daisy fields
nodding in that gentle time
that waves will dance along the sand
and if sands of time
cannot be stopped,
his eyes will photograph the world
all these things will come and go
to laugh along with brilliant stars
caress the petals of this flower
for it will last but just a
heartbeat
breath in blue and exhale
light
it shoots out of a million
eyes
all he can remember is
sunshine
---
From far away, these things are beautiful.
Fantastic. Sparkling, even.
But step too close and you'll see
ghastly things
that you hadn't thought
were there before.
So keep your distance,
smile and wave,
and let the show go on.
For if you stray
behind the curtain,
these pretty things
will be
no more.
Like glass, they are.
Once shattered,
forever in shards
they shall remain.
Be careful now,
my darling one,
and don't forget
to enjoy
the show.
Just don't look
too closely
line by line,
linebyline,
from far away,
underneath the broken,
transient beauty
