on the 21st of November, I went to the Beaujoulais (sic?) & Beyond 2009 French Festival. I paid $10 and worked for an hour and a half at the Will Call Desk on the second shift. it was fun, and busy and loud. at first, I arrived at the Hyatt Regency is my normal every day clothes: t-shirt, jeans, and crappy shoes. but I changed into my dress clothing in the bathroom.. and left my knife in there in the process. when I went back to look for it, it wasn't there, so I bought a new one today for $10 off Amazon.com with a few christmas presents for my parents. anyway, I ended up going up the elevator with Amanda and Leslie to get a view from up above. we rode in the elevator for quite a while, and we found that we could only get up to the 14th floor before it required a "Regency Club" Card. then, a tipsy-looking couple came in and put in their card and got us up to the 16th. once it was beyond that, it allowed us to go up further, to a floor titled "RC." I assumed it stood for "Roof Control," even though that doesn't really make sense. but nope, it stands for Regency Club. we got up there, and Amanda and Leslie were petrified, but I got off the elevator and went in, and they followed suit soon after. it was a wonderful view of San Fransisco, windows all around, with a qiuet night-time atmosphere and few occupants. there was also an open and free buffet and bar- with no attendants! I dove right in and got something to eat, while Leslie and Amanda sat in the parlour waiting to see if we would get kicked out. I walked all around, and no one batted an eye at me (I think it was because I was dressed nicely). I came back to them with a plate of food and told them to come with me, since we were all hungry and the festival didn't start for another half-hour. I saw the drunk couple again, and they giggled when they looked at me, knowing they had accidentally let me and my friends in. hehe.. but after I had eaten, I decided to check out the bar and make myself a drink. I looked at everything around, and decided to make myself a Cherry Gin cocktail. so, with Leslie & Amanda watching, I made myself a nice drink with ice. an older blonde lady started glaring at me; I think it was because I look underage. so, after that, we took some pictures of the place, and left back down to the lobby. by then, the Beaujoulais was beginning, so I downed my glass of Gin and went in.
I did a lot of walking around between then and there. for the most part, I talked to Fransisco while he was working security. While doing that, I met a guy named Olivier who went to Le Lycee Francais there in San Fransisco. I didn't even know there was such a thing. I talked to him a while, and learned he was from a Parisian Suburb. I didn't even know such a thing existed, but I looked it up and there's 300 of them all across the world and all across the USA. either way, I saw him often while walking around. one highlight from Fransisco: a fairly attractive older lady was walking toward the gate he was guarding\opening for people, and I pointed at her and said to him, "I think you have one," but the lady interpreted it differently: she pointed back at me and winked. we both laughed, and Fransisco told me, "dude, you should chase after that!" but I refused, even though she was quite pretty (must have been as old as my mom, though). after that, I began a food run to everyone who was working, since I was off: I brought food to Jeremy, Isiah, Kevin, Gladys, Fransisco, Sarah, and a few other people. by that time, I was already starting to feel the gin, and I had drank about 5 glasses of wine since the festival began. I then decided that I wanted to try and hit every vendor there. so, I did. I went all up and down the bar, until I was full. by the time my shift began, I was pretty drunk. but I made it there before 7:30 (at 7:27), and I sat down and the remaining lady helped me understand what I was doing before she took off. she was nice enough at least to come back and bring me some food. I also got one of the wine ladies to bring me a glass while I was working. yay for wine! after working for a bit more than an hour and spending the last 20 minutes talking to the two old guys working near me as the Ticket Taker and Entrance Guard, a lady in a purple shirt (who I'd seen earlier, working) relieved me and told me to go have fun, since few people would be checking into Will Call now. I went straight back to the bar. by then, at 8:50, a lot of the bar had closed simply because they ran out, but I went to the leftover vendors and such and got food and wine. by the end, around 10, I was completely hammered, sitting with Isiah, Leslie, Amanda, Kory, Maria, and a few other people, having some more wine; I had drank at least 14 glasses of wine, a gin cocktail, and part of a nasty licorice liquer. I stopped drinking there, since I knew if I drank anymore, I would start throwing up. I could still walk at least! after sitting around for about an hour, sobering up, and talking to these other French guys (Francois &... other guy), I finally went into the after-party. it was supposed to be $10, but it was opened up for free. the bar in there, however, was cash. so, I didn't order anything. I was drunk anyway, so I just danced.
after that, I rode home. since then, there's been a few interesting things, but nothing really noteworthy. the only important thing I can think of is that registration for the spring semester is soon. I'm debating about taking Music Theory again, since Mr. Bump is often off-topic and the class is more-and-more a waste of time that could be spent asleep. but I definitely am taking German 1, French 4, and either Math 104 again or Math 4.. and maybe another math class like Trigonometry. or maybe something interesting like an art class. anyway, I register tomorrow, but the paper catalogues don't get issued until the 9th. what kind of bullshit is that!? also, the credit values of some classes have been changed: Math 104 is now 3 units (from 5), while Pre-calculus is now 5 units (from 4). it's just a little annoying. but I can figure it out.
in other news: I am indeed getting a PS3 for christmas, but part of it (at least $200 worth) is the family gift of a Blu-ray player. I also did some christmas shopping, which included- ta-dah!- some Blu-ray movies for my dad. I'm still doing shopping for Jason and my mom, but I'll get that done soon. I don't actually know what else I want for christmas.. I normally would ask for books, but my shelves are full; I have enough shirts; I could ask for some new fans for my computer, or for some new jeans... I'll have to think about it.
