Title: Park Benches [ 005 / 100 ]
Pairing: Yesung, Kyuhyun
Genre: Fluff
Rating: PG
Summary: "Like I'd ever choose my chores over you."
A/N: This idea suddenly came up out of nowhere. I actually thought this theme would be hard at first, but I finally finished it. It may be kind of boring, but anyway, just grin and bear it. XD
Kyuhyun sat on the park bench, his and Yesung's park bench, their secret place away from the rest of the people, by his lonesome; a sullen look on his face marred the bright, cheerful ambiance surrounding him. He could perpetually feel the dark, metaphoric rain clouds hovering above his head as he clapped his mobile phone shut. Yesung had cancelled out on him, saying he had some chores to do at home and couldn’t hang out with the younger.
He sighed and leaned back into the hard but worn ridges of the park bench. He stared up to the blue sky, dotted with the beginnings of clouds and closed his eyes just as a light breeze passed him by. He let out another resigned sigh. This was definitely not the way he had planned on spending his free weekend. Life was unfair, but he was the youngest, so he shouldn't tell it to have something shoved up someplace where the sun doesn’t shine.
Kyuhyun started to feel drowsy, what with the nice warm weather, the gentle rays of the sun warming his face and the breeze lulling him. He was about to drift further when a shadow dropped across his face making him frown at the change. And when gentle skin brushed the bangs from his forehead, his body went tense and his eyes snapped open and he stared up alarmingly into a looming shadow looking over him. Once his eyes had adjusted, the shadow now became a very welcomingly familiar face with bright, mischievous dark brown eyes.
“I lied,” he said, a gentle smile graced his features.
Kyuhyun could only look up at him, his breath was caught as his throat clenched with the emotions he felt. He turned to sit up properly while Yesung went around the bench to sit next to him.
“What happened to your chores, hyung?” the younger asked, throwing Yesung a sideway glance; he was still feeling sulky.
Yesung chuckled and then answered in a tone that suggested to Kyuhyun that he felt it was the most obvious thing ever, “Like I’d ever choose my chores over you. Besides, we have Hankyung for that.”
Ah, it was one of his ‘feel good’ lies. In a very ironically twisted sense, Yesung’s concept of lies was that they’re meant to be mood lifters. It did work, kinda. The other grudgingly smiled. “Thanks,” he said.
“You know that, right?” Yesung asked, concerned at Kyuhyun’s uncharacteristic response; thinking that the younger was still angry with him for that little lie.
“Yeah,” Kyuhyun affirmed.
Like I’d ever choose my chores over you.
He smiled and turn to fully face Yesung, “But it’s nice to hear you say it, hyung.”
The older shook his head and then smiled. Being with Kyuhyun in their special place was more important than any other thing he could think of. And he loved reminding the other once in awhile.
