So you're thinking about seeing Matrix 3 are ya?

Don't worry I won't be so mean as to put spoilers here. Today.

Saw M3 tonight at the eversopricy AMC 16 (which is at least a better theater than the UA chain is around here). To be sure not all the plot holes are closed (something Jake mentioned in his blog) and there's some things left deliberately open. There's some hokum here (Possibly moreso than with Returner which incidentally I felt had a better ending) and some of the main characters are little more than window dressing in this movie. There is one disappointing aspect that I feel should be noted (MINOR SPOILER): Trinity. I left having no concept of who she was or what her life was like pre-Neo. There's minor characters we learn more about than her. What's irksome is that she's the major female character and other than her attachment to Neo we have no clue about what makes her tick. I could have done entirely without the Link/Zee storyline which I didn't really feel brought anything positive to the last 2 movies. Gloria Foster's replacement as the Oracle does an alright job just don't expect her to be as good in the role. I don't really have too many complaints other than the cheesiness of some of the scenes. Lots of action and destruction. Hugo Weaving is great, again. Some of the effects shots are actually awesome. I'd argue it's more of a rollercoaster ride than a spiritual journey that some were expecting. Worth seeing, but made me want to see Returner again as well as possibly the Animatrix (to fill in some of the holes - hopefully).
