I'm presently in mortal combat (no, not the horrible movies) with an older MSI mobo that's giving me fits. It wouldn't let install XP on it regardless of what hard drive I put in it or how many pci cards I take out or how many fucking times I change BIOS settings. If this were for money I'd be screwed because the box itself isn't worth the hours I'm putting into it. If it wasn't for the fact I'm trying to set this up for sonnyboy I wouldn't even be bothered. It's a 6167 btw.
My schedule's become increasingly weirder with the time off I've had - generally I'd have been asleep not later than 0600. Now it's extending til about 0900. This is bad. I like seeing the early warm sunny morning (hate being in it though).
Bannings continue today in LJ-land with no end in sight. The fact that the "authorities" here make it exceedingly difficult to carry on any sort of meaningful dialog discomforts me. I honestly don't understand why anyone would be a paid member since you really don't have any say in how things are done in what is supposed to be a community. I mean why, because of icons and style sheets? That's lame.
What would it take for me to pay?
1. An open, honest abuse policy with direct communication as well as the right to appeal.
2. Behavior-based zones. What I mean by this is that the people who'd be at home at say, Xanga - could be in a G-rated zone where they can feel protected and whatnot this would increase incrementally to an anything (other than immediate or possible physical assault/death threats)goes zone.
3. Paypal. I don't have a credit card and don't want one.
4. More community based features that include things like a way to keep track of your posts (that could be shown to others a la ezboard) for example.
5. More editing options. One example is that there's no way of editing your posts currently other than deleting them.
6. More emphasis on improving clients to integrate features not possible or feasible given LJ's current model.
That's it for now.
