Right now I'm at work. I've been tasked with making a communication logging recorder network/workstation pc talk to each other, and I have received no training on this system. It's archaic - IPX based, and SO fussy about hardware. The workstation is running NT4, with a 3Com Etherlink network card, and the (incomplete and poorly written) documentation I have is for Windows 95 - totally different network setup characteristics. And NT4 is a bitch anyway. The computer got "borrowed" from the logging network to be used as a general purpose desktop, and now needs to be put back on to the logger. I think they switched a bunch of hardware and software in the process, now it's just a big mess.
Everybody in my department but me has had training on this stuff, but, since I'm the new guy, I get assigned the job. Fuck. Sometimes I think my boss is setting me up to fail.
Tonight I'm going to have a few drinks and pass out with Divell at the laundromat, hopefully squeezin a little bit of music making into there.
