Merlin!
I loved this episode, but I would have loved it even more without the horribly tacked-on and more than faintly ridiculous A/G parts. All this ep showed is that their AMAZING TRUE LOVE!(TM) was just as unfounded and superficial as the Arthur/Vivian stuff.
WHY, writers? I used to LIKE this ship; I used to vaguely ship it, even, amongst my ten other Merlin ships, but now it's become not just laughable but actively annoying. AND OMG THE ANGST. "OH NOES, WE CAN'T BE TOGETHER!" Boohoo, your EPIC LOOOVE which appeared over the course of ONE EPISODE is foiled. If I were Gwen, that scene would have gone something like this:
Gwen: ...but I can't be your queen.
Arthur: I underst-
Gwen: I hadn't finished yet. I can't be your queen, which is after all tragic, given just how well we've come to know each other over the past... well, I'm sure we've had some very in-depth conversations off-screen. But we can still have some fun.
Arthur: *cocks eyebrow*
Gwen: POUR SOME SUGAR ON ME, BRADLEY ARTHUR!
...I think the lack of caffeine is getting to me. Oh well, ROAD TRIP soon!
