I entirely agree with you on many points. (Though I will say that the root of my die-hard K/S shipping *is* the inherent problems their relationship would have--I often ship things not because they're perfect, but because the dynamics involved interest me. They are too perfect for each other, and too different, and while it's not something I see happening in canon the sparks between the actors are almost painfully palpable to me. So. I like going there in my head. Shipping is so often an exercise in alternatives to canon. Though... well, there's OOC evidence you can spin either way.)
ANYWAY. You didn't ask for my Kirk/Spock manifesto and it's not something I usually play anyway--just idle thoughts. Read: I never mean to push anything on anyone ever, I like seeing where stuff goes. I love the backstory you and Ophelia have come up with, it totally works and I'm excited to see how it unfolds. Because I feel the way you do about it in canon (as well as K/S there) and you've made it work for me.
