A nightmare come true...
NB!! This piece of news has yet to be verified from a reliable source! After the initial shock I'm taking it with quite a large grain of salt. According to another source the German law says that nobody can be force into sex work. If that is the case then surely that goes for employment officials as well. Still another source doesn't mention the particular case but only says the below scenario is a theoretical possibility. I want to believe that something as repulsive as this is not possible in a "civilized" country...

I meant to go to bed but then I just had to stay up and follow up this one piece of news I stumbled on.
So really quickly now...
This is it. It's official. I'm against legalizing prostitution. Why..? Well, because of THIS!
I DO NOT have the words... I'm outraged! Appalled! Disgusted! Incensed! Scandalized! Revolted! This is an abomination.
In short...
The reason I used to be ambivalent on legalizing prostitution was that if it was legal then unemployed women could be coersed to go peddle their arses if it was offered them as a job. But I (and other people as well!) told myself that that's really not a very likely outcome. Therefore, my stance was not particularly solid.
But now. Of all places Germany has legalized prostitution. And according to their legislation, a woman who has been unemployed for more than a year can be forced to take any job offered or lose the unemployment benefits. And since prostitution is now a valid profession in the eyes of the law, an unemployed woman can be coerced into it!
Ye gods... What sort of a world do I live in?
I'm trying to imagine what it would be like to be told to either let men f*ck me for money or to lose my unemployment benefits... Especially since I've considered selling myself to be one of the things I would never do...
